Christine Miller, Bilingual Assistant Principal
Christine Miller has served in educational roles for nineteen years, teaching and serving children from preschool through high school seniors primary focused on second language learners. Christine is also bilingual in English and Spanish. Christine joined the Powell team in August 2015 after serving three years, as the Assistant Principal at Vida Charter School, a bilingual elementary school in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She also led 21st Century afterschool and summer programs serving Migrant and ESL students for four years, taught English as a Second Language and was an elementary teacher for four years at Puente de Hózho trilingual Elementary school in Flagstaff, Arizona (English-Spanish-Navajo!). Christine earned Principal’s certification from McDaniel College, and has a Master’s Degree in Bilingual and Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University. Her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies is from the University of Pittsburgh.
Theodore C. Hinton, Jr. , Dean of Culture
I was born in Apex, N.C. I attended Tuskegee University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Chemistry. I also received a Master of Art in Urban Studies from George Washington University. I have worked with the D.C. Public schools for over forty years and have been a science teacher, assistant principal, principal, mentor principal and Dean of Culture.
