Library Book Donation Policy

At the Powell Elementary Library we appreciate the generosity and community spirit of families seeking to donate and share stories and knowledge!

At the library, we are always working to make space so that the library can continue to grow and stay up-to-date, current, and user-friendly!  

As a result, we can currently only accept the following types of book donations, and all donations must be in NEW or LIKE-NEW condition:

  • Spanish-language children’s books published in the last 10 years

  • English-language graphic novels 

  • Hardcover English-language picture books published in the last 3 years only 

  • Leveled early readers from the following series (English OR Spanish): 

  • Biscuit by Alyssa Capucilli)

  • Elephant and Piggie by Mo Willems

  • Pete the Cat by James Dean and/or Eric Litwin

  • Fancy Nancy by Jane O’Connor

  • Katie Woo by Fran Manushkin

  • Mo by David Adler

  • Pedro by Fran Manushkin

  • Pinkalicious by Victoria Kann

  • Sofia Martinez by Jacqueline Jules

  • Yasmin by Saadia Faruqi

  • Disney characters

  • Marvel & DC superheroes 

  • Other popular TV shows/movies (Daniel Tiger, Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, etc.) 

  • Especially seeking books from the following popular series (English OR Spanish): 

  • Babysitters’ Club (graphic novels, various authors) 

  • Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey

  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

  • Dog Man by Dav Pilkey

  • Dork Diaries by Rachel Renée Russell

  • Goosebumps by R.L. Stine

  • I Survived (graphic novels, various authors)

  • InvestiGators (graphic novels by John Patrick Green)

  • Planet Omar by Zanib Mian

  • Princess in Black by Shannon Hale
